Description

This the only Megazone, other than Eddie Van Halen’s, that is known to exist and created during the period-correct era when Karl Sandoval made these with Danelectro necks (1978/1979).  This was made in late 1978 or early 1979 and even comes with the original ANVIL hardshell case.  This Megazone, I believe, was made right before Randy Rhoad’s Sandoval V and even shares similar characteristics with the crackling finish on his Polka V (to be honest, the clear coats used on this one and Randy’s are horrible, hence why they flake like crazy).  This was converted to a Kahler in around 1985.  The finish was ripped off at the neck and refinished due to the fumes of the Anvil case (crazy, right?).  That’s why you see most of the 1970s Anvil cases have replaced foam (they ate the finish off guitars if stored for long period of time!).

Truly a one-of-a-kind find.  The earliest I’ve ever seen a Megazone is 1983, and by then, Sandoval wasn’t using Danelectro necks.  Truly an amazing collector’s piece for a Van Halen Fanatic.
